Fun Things to do with Kids in Redondo Beach
Redondo Beach Weather
If you’re seeking for warm-weather activities, you should go to Redondo Beach between June and the middle of October, when the weather is mainly sunny and comfortable with highs in the early to mid 70s. It’s the right time of year to take a stroll around this authentically Beach Town region of old California. Beware of the weather that Californians refer to as “June gloom,” which is defined as morning and evening gloomy, overcast sky with very cold temperatures. The weather will usually clear up during the day and usually occurs in the late spring and early summer.
The Beach
The shoreline of Redondo Beach, California, is made up of the 1.5-mile-long sandy beach. Redondo’s sandy “Beach” begins at the Redondo Beach pier, which is just south of Hermosa Beach and has plenty of parking. If you continue south, you will need to find metered street parking, which is difficult to obtain during rush hour. Additionally, the distance required to reach the sand will increase as you travel further south.
Redondo Beach Pier
Located just of the Pacific Coast Highway, you’ll find restaurants, shopping, and entertainment along the seaside. The Redondo Beach Pier is a well-known, main attraction landmark in the South Bay. Enjoy water activities like harbor tours, seasonally viewing whales, renting kayaks, pedal boats, or S.U.P.s, or take a leisurely stroll along The Pier while taking in the panoramic ocean views. You can also take a trip on the Looking Glass Boat, a yellow semi-submersible boat with big glass outer windows on the lower deck, allowing you to see the local marine life underwater. You may also look for a particular present or memento for someone you care about.
Free fishing is available in certain locations of the Redondo Beach Pier. Both Redondo Coffee & Bait Shop on the pier and Redondo Beach Sportfishing & Whale Watching on the International Boardwalk provide fishing pole rentals and bait.
On the pier, you’ll also discover some of the top Redondo Beach eateries, including the renowned Redondo Beach Quality Seafood. And during the summer season, you can find live music.
Veterans Park
The 6.3-acre Veterans Park is situated at the intersection of South Catalina Avenue and Torrance Boulevard. The Veterans Park Community Center and the Veterans Park Senior Center are situated on the property. The park has grass, trees, an awesome play area, and a fantastic spot for viewing the lovely coastline!
Seaside Lagoon
The Lagoon is open everyday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. throughout the summer in Redondo Beach’s King Harbor, which is located on the southwest corner of Harbor Drive and Portofino Way.
The large saltwater lagoon is supervised by qualified lifeguards. In addition to swimming, the Lagoon has a sizable beach area for sunbathing and grassy areas and a luau shelter are also available for daytime and nighttime activities.
Hopkins Wilderness Park
In 1977, Hopkins Wilderness Park was created as a destination for camping, environmental research, and conservation. The 11-acre location has four ecological habitatsāforest, meadows, streams, and a pondāa 150-seat amphitheater, three campgrounds for overnight staysāGumwood Camp, Pine Camp, and Sycamore Campāeach with a capacity for 40 people, a picnic area called Elm Campāwith a similar capacity, as well as public restrooms and support facilities. No admission charge is necessary for individuals or families to enter the park.
Wonder of Dinosaurs
The largest dinosaur display on the west coast, with a wide variety of static and robotic dinosaurs and information about them, is situated at the South Bay Galleria Mall. The exhibitions currently have over 100 robotic and stationary dinosaurs for everyone’s entertainment.
The brand-new Second Level has attractions including an 18-hole mini-golf course with dinosaur themes, a dinosaur train, a carousel made out of dinosaur eggs, and two more robotic T-Rex rides in addition to the over 100 Dinosaur Museum. To engage in these extracurricular events, tickets must be purchased.
Bike Path at the Beach
Take a bike ride along the shore to take in the stunning California sun. Only cyclists are allowed on the path, making it incredibly simple and breezy for a relaxed ride on a well paved lane. You’ll be pleased you didn’t pass on the beach vistas along this picturesque cycling trail. There are several local bicycle rental locations, including unique bike stores. Redondo Beach Whale Watching
Redondo Beach is a great place to Whale Watch and take Nature Cruise Boat rides depart year round.

Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center
The South Bay’s performing arts sector is centered at Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center. The 1,453-seat theater is home to prestigious and very successful presenters thanks to its modernistic Grand Lobby, over 40,000 square feet of special event programming areas, a granite waterfall, upgraded technical and patron facilities, pleasant on-site personnel, and lots of free parking.
Redondo Beach Historical Museum
The Queen Anne House from 1904 is where the Museum is situated. The historical local museum includes a sizable collection of Redondo Beach relics, souvenirs, photos, school yearbooks, and historical documents and welcomes thousands of tourists and school groups every year.
