Community Spotlight: Happy Family Organics

Michelle Llorin, at Happy Family Organics is running a grassroots local effort to get families together and start eating healthy. She’s very passionate about working with families in the South Bay and educating them about all the wonderful things about Happy Family Organics products. We sat down to learn about this local South Bay mom and the work she does at Happy Family Organics. At the end of this post, you’ll find some great discount offers for their products too!

Tell us a little about you:

I’ve been living in the South Bay (Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach) with my husband and four children for 16 years. My husband surfs and my kids love the beach, so it’s been amazing! About 10 years ago, I founded a South Bay moms’ group on meetup.com where I organized playgroups, moms’ nights out, and events in the South Bay/Beach Cities area. I personally liked Happy Family products, so I reached out to the brand and asked if they would like to share any coupons or samples with my moms’ group – and they said, YES! Over time, I became a SUPER fan and six years ago I became an official part of their Brand Ambassador team. My role is to represent Happy Family Organics at Los Angeles/South Bay events (big and small), as well as connect with the local community.

You may have seen me around town sharing tips on starting solids at a South Bay Family Tree class or perhaps you visited my table at the “Kids’ Club” and grabbed a free sample and coupon! I’ve made dozens of snack visits to local Fit4Mom groups too. I really love watching families grow and helping parents on their feeding journey.

Tell us about Happy Family Organics:

Happy Family Organics was founded in 2005 by two moms on a mission to change the trajectory of children’s health through nutrition. They offer snacks and meals for babies, tots and kids with organic ingredients curated for your child’s age and stage!

Beyond their organic products, they have an array of resources including an online learning center, Happy Baby Experts and a Happy Parents Community all available to help support you and your little one’s feeding journey. Fans of the brand can join here for freebies, giveaways and connection!

What do you enjoy doing in the South Bay when you are not working?

When I’m not working, I like to spend time with my family visiting our favorite South Bay spots including Hermosa Beach, Anderson Park, and the Manhattan Beach Pier. One of the perks of working for Happy Family is always having snacks on hand to take on-the-go. My daughter absolutely loves the Happy Tot Super Bellies Pouch (and so do I because it provides support for digestive and immune health). She likes to eat them when they are chilled! My son loves the Happy Tot Superfoods bars which have no added sugar and are gluten-free – it’s a soft oat bar so there’s no crumbly mess to clean up! We also enjoy making popsicles with Happy Baby Clearly Crafted pouches.

How do you give back to the community?

Over the years, and with support of my former moms’ group members, we organized donation drives for Baby2Baby, Toys for Tots, Richstone Family Center and others. I also organized Be The Match Bone Marrow Donor Registry Drives hosted at Manhattan Village and Children’s Orchard. Happy Family Organics has also provided me with hundreds of products over the years to donate to Los Angeles South Bay organizations like Good+Foundation, Community’s Child, Harbor Regional Center families, local Moms’ groups and others!

Anything else you would like us to include about Happy Family Organics?

New parents often ask me what Happy Family Organics is best known for or what’s new with the brand? Most people recognize Happy Baby Yogis (freeze dried yogurt drops) which are a fan favorite – and they love sampling them at my booth during events! They also recognize the Clearly Crafted pouches because they were the very first see-through pouch available to consumers. Also, you can request a free recycling envelope for your Happy Family Organics flexible plastic packaging, pouches, and caps.

Happy Family Organics always has new products popping up too – like Happy Baby Savory Blends Pouches, which feature veggie forward purees with herbs and olive oil or avocado oil. The Happy Baby Snackers are savory and unsalted crunchy snacks in meltable X & O shapes made with ancient grains and veggies. The Regenerative & Organic 4-pack at Whole Foods are now available in single pouches. I’m also very excited about the brand-new baking mixes too (available on Amazon)! The Made Simple Pancake & Waffle Mix includes whole grains, zero added sugar, and iron to support brain development and the Muffin Mix features apple, carrot & cinnamon flavors.

Happy Mama Lactation Cookies are also new and come in two varieties: Cinnamon & Oat and Chocolate, Oat & Sea Salt. They are dairy-free and soy-free and include flaxseed, brewer’s yeast and a unique nutrient boost blend (DHA, Iron, Vitamin D and more). Available on Amazon.
