South Bay Rocks – Official Contest Overview & Rules
Presented by Local Anchor in partnership with South Bay Music Connection
A brand-new youth music competition is coming to the South Bay. South Bay Rocks offers rising local performers the chance to share their talent, perform live, and win a once-in-a-lifetime recording session at Republic Records Studios in Los Angeles. Whether you’re a solo artist, part of a duo, or in a full band, this is your moment to shine.
Who Can Enter
- Open to solo performers, duos, and bands
- All musical styles and genres are welcome
- Performers must be no older than 19 years old as of Saturday, September 20, 2025
- Must live in or attend school in the South Bay of Los Angeles
- Only one submission per act is allowed
- Groups must ensure all members meet the age requirement
- A parent or legal guardian must consent for minors under 18
How It Works
Submission Period: June 12 – August 24, 2025
Submit a video of your performance through the official contest entry form. Performances must be no longer than 5 minutes, family-friendly, and either original music or covers you have permission to perform.
Community Voting: August 25 – September 5, 2025
Approved videos will be shared publicly for voting. The community can vote once per day. Anti-fraud measures will be in place.
Finalist Selection
- Top 10 contestants with the most votes will advance to the finals
- 2 Finalist Fast-Pass entries will be selected by the Local Anchor and South Bay Music Connection teams based on creativity, originality, and overall performance
- A total of 12 finalists will perform live at the Grand Finale Event on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at The Point in El Segundo
- A panel of music industry professionals will select the winner during the live finale
Grand Prize Package
Recording Session at Republic Records Studios in Los Angeles
- A private 4-hour session with professional engineer
- Studio access is by invite only and not open to the public
- Winner retains rights to any music created during the session
- Session must take place between October 1, 2025 – October 1, 2026
- Winner must book the session at least 4 weeks in advance
- No travel or accommodations are included
- No industry meetings or representation are promised
- Photos may be taken during the session

- Featured performance at the Hermosa for the Holidays Tree Lighting Concert
- Holiday cover story in Discover South Bay Magazine, plus feature on LocalAnchor.com and Local Anchor social media
- Featured artist profile on the South Bay Music Connection Artist Spotlight page
Terms & Conditions
- Finalist and winner selections are final
- All performances and submissions must be appropriate for a public, family-friendly audience
- Prizes may not be transferred, resold, or exchanged
- Winner is responsible for all travel, lodging, and related expenses
- Experience must be scheduled in advance and is subject to availability
- Participation in the contest does not guarantee future performance opportunities, contracts, or representation
- Participants must conduct themselves respectfully throughout the contest
- Failure to comply with rules may result in disqualification
Media Release
By entering South Bay Rocks, participants (and their parent/guardian if under 18) grant Local Anchor, South Bay Music Connection, and associated sponsors the right to use submitted videos, performance footage, names, and likenesses for promotional use. This includes websites, social media, digital and printed publications, and future marketing materials. No compensation will be provided for this use. By submitting, you agree that all promotional use is granted in perpetuity and waive the right to review or approve materials.
Legal Notice
Many will enter. One will win. No purchase necessary. Must be a resident of or attend school in the South Bay of Los Angeles. Void where prohibited.
