Welcome to the 3rd Annual Project: Holiday Helpers Campaign! The Local Anchor Foundation, a 501 c3 nonprofit in partnership with LocalAnchor.com, is excited to support over 100 local families in the South Bay of Los Angeles this holiday season.

We partner with local agencies and school districts to identify families in need within the South Bay area. These organizations help us ensure that the families selected are those who would most benefit from the support.

They include the following: Torrance Unified School District – Building Bridges Program for Homeless & Foster Care, Redondo Beach Police Department Domestic Violence Victim Advocacy Program, Los Angeles Unified School District – Schools located within South Bay cities and Richstone Family Centers.

How to Participate

There are several ways you can participate in Project: Holiday Helpers. You can sponsor a family with friends, family, or colleagues, or ask your employer or local business to get involved. You can purchase items from our Amazon Wish List, which will be updated soon. Help us spread the word by sharing this campaign on social media or inviting others to join our Facebook event. Additionally, you can volunteer at our upcoming gift-wrapping events, with details to be shared via email. Join us in making a difference this holiday season!

Sponsoring a family means supporting a family in need for the holidays by providing them with gifts from their wish list, as well as additional items such as personal items, toiletries, food, and home essentials. This helps bring joy and support to families who may be struggling during the holiday season.

We partner with local agencies and school districts to identify families in need within the South Bay area. These organizations help us ensure that the families selected are those who would most benefit from the support.

You can support the campaign by sponsoring a family, spreading the word on social media, or inviting others to join our Facebook event. You can also purchase items from our Amazon Wish List, which will be updated soon. You can also volunteer or simply make a monetary donation.

After you register to sponsor a family, we provide a detailed wish list and family profile for each of our families. Sponsors then purchase the items on their wish list. Items may be delivered to the locations listed above, unwrapped and labeled with the family number. If you are interested in wrapping the gifts, please reach out to us and we will include you on the distribution emails about further volunteer opportunities.

We’ve provided a handy tool to help you determine how much to spend on your sponsored family or individual. Please note, these are only suggestions.

In your Sponsored Family Assigned email, we have included detailed wish lists provided by the families. We ask that each sponsor do their best to provide the requested gifts, as well as a grocery store gift card to allow the families to purchase and prepare a holiday meal. Additionally, we are helping to provide personal items, toiletries, food, and home essentials. If you would like to go above and beyond the requested items, that is perfectly fine!

We suggest that you reach out to your friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors to see if they would like to help you in fulfilling the family’s wish list. Sharing the opportunity to bring joy and relief to a family in need is an honor and a gift in itself. If you’re still not able to participate, we would need to know this as soon as possible. News of being sponsored for the holiday brings tremendous relief from many stresses experienced by families, and efforts to locate another donor would be very important. Yes, you can purchase any of the suggested items below and deliver them to one of the locations listed above! Additionally, you can purchase items off our Amazon Wish List?

We are looking for the following gift items:

  • Winter clothing for children and adults; jackets and sweatshirts, pants and shirts, rain gear (must be new)
  • Shoes and socks, pajamas (must be new)
  • Toys that spark imagination, transportation toys, art kits, Legos and other building toys, wooden puzzles, action/character figurines, dolls, dinosaurs, superheroes, Sonic, Pokemon, Roblox, Minecraft, Paw Patrol, etc.
  • Car seats and boosters (must be new)
  • Pretend play dress-up clothes, babies and toddlers toys, sports balls, family board games
  • Technology, Bluetooth speakers, earphones and headphones, handheld video game consoles with games, tablets/iPads, teen makeup, hair supplies, skateboards + protective gear
  • We are also looking for holiday wrapping supplies like wrapping paper, gift bags, tape, and bows.

Yes, we will accept gift cards. Gift cards for grocery stores, Target, gas, and similar will be very helpful. For security purposes, we ask that you only drop off gift cards at the following locations:

Since Local Anchor relies on our agency partners for qualifying families, we recommend that those in need reach out directly to their local school district local police or fire department for assistance. Additionally, we’ve compiled a list of resources that may be helpful.

  1. Sponsor a Family
    • Sponsor one or more families and ask your customers and employees to help by purchasing gifts. Create an Amazon Wish List and share it via email or social media to get your community involved.
  2. Host a Donation Drive
    • Put up our Holiday Helpers flyer and set up a donation box at your business to collect new toys and socks from customers.
  3. Donate Bulk Items
    • Make an even bigger impact by donating bulk items such as hygiene products, socks, or pantry staples to support families in need.
