About Local Anchor
Who We Are
Local Anchor is a community platform that helps you discover local events and activities curated for you and your family to create unforgettable memories together. We offer locals and visitors a one-stop shop for finding local events, things to do, places to go, and things to eat in and around the South Bay of Los Angeles. We also promote buying local and giving back – two tenets that are essential for building strong communities.
Founded in 2017 by Laura Stotland as South Bay Mommies & Daddies, what began as a moms group has evolved into Local Anchor, a platform providing a way for people to connect with their local community, discover new things to do and explore, and share their own experiences. Local Anchor also offers a variety of tools and resources to help people get involved in their community, such as event calendars, volunteer opportunities, and a local business directory.

Laura Stotland, Founder + Editor in Chief
Laura Stotland is the Founder + Editor in Chief of Local Anchor. Stotland is a marketing, digital and social media strategist with an extensive background in media, digital, and entertainment marketing; including the proven track record to increasing revenue, creation and execution of strategic marketing plans, and managing talent and teams. Laura gained her experience working with The Walt Disney Company, Clear Channel Radio (now iHeart Media) and The Alliance for Women in Media. Additionally, Laura has worked in social media, advancing the public awareness through the Pancreatic Cancer Network and other non-profit organizations. Above all, Laura is poised to aid businesses grow successfully in development and execution of strategic marketing plans that tap into current and future trends through traditional marketing channels, strategic use of influencer marketing, and a variety of digital platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Pinterest.
Local Anchor Accepted into the 2021 Facebook Community Accelerator Program
Local Anchor founder Laura Stotland was selected as one of 131 Facebook Community Accelerator program recipients globally, out of more than 13,000 applicants, based on demonstrated impact in the community and ability to scale to other markets.
Work With Us
Families are one-half of the equation in building stronger communities. We are also seeking partnerships with socially responsible businesses that want to give back to the community and connect with their consumers on a more meaningful level.
