Special Juneteenth Storytime
We’d like to invite the entire family to join us in the Storytime Room for a special storytime celebrating Juneteenth.
Juneteenth refers to June 19, 1865, and commemorates the day the last remaining enslaved people in the U.S. learned that the Civil War was over and they were liberated by orders in President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation. It was two and a half years after Lincoln’s proclamation. Celebrate by reading books about it and books written by Black authors and poets. The library has books for children, adults, and teens that touch on the history of the day and the lasting effects of Juneteenth.
