As the founder of Sand & Shores, Tonya McKenzie brings more than 20 years of experience in media relations, marketing, and client relations. Her non-profit experience includes being an Associate Executive Director, raising over a million dollars to open a new YMCA in Northern California and serving as a Los Angeles County Commissioner. Tonya McKenzie has build and lead marketing departments for various companies. Tonya published Real Estate Agent Magazine in 2016 and hosts 2 successful podcasts. She is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and chartered a graduate chapter in Northern California. Tonya McKenzie is a child advocate and staunch supporter of childrenāsā rights. She is the author of āA Childās Memories of Cartoons & Murderā, a memoir discussing her own (adverse childhood experiences) A.C.E.s. She served as a Youth Commissioner for Contra Costa County Supervisor Federal Glover. She is a graduate of California State University, Northridge with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. Currently, Tonya serves as the Past President of the North Redondo Beach Business Association, is the first African American woman elected to the Board of Directors of the Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerce, holds a seat on the Redondo Beach Police Department Community Engagement Board, and The City of Redondo Beach GPAC. She serves as the Vice President of Black Public Relations Society ā Los Angeles and on the Board of Directors for Better Youth. Tonya was named as the Redondo Beach Woman of the Year in 2021 and continues to proudly serve her community, Los Angeles County, and the Culture.

Nicole brings more than a decade of experience in media and communications. Her career started as an overnight breaking news reporter for City New Service, Southern Californiaās newswire. She later joined The Los Angeles Times as an overnight deputy editor ā writing, editing and producing content with local, national and international reporters and editors. She also served as Maria Shriverās social media and video producer, creating content for Shriverās platforms, including her digital video series āArchitects of Changeā and her podcast āMeaningful Conversations.ā During the pandemic, she closely covered neighborhoods for Patch in Westside Los Angeles, focusing on underserved populations, community health, education and environment. Most recently, she worked as Director of Communications at Flintridge Sacred Heart, an all-girls private, Catholic high school in Los Angeles.
Her writing and videos have been featured on Snapchat Discover channel Brother, ATTN:, Glamour, AOL, Menās Health and Patch. Her reporting has been recognized by the Online News Association, the Los Angeles Press Club and the Society of Professional Journalists. She earned her degree in Journalism from Loyola University Chicago, minoring in Political Science. Nicole taught Introduction to Social Media at Loyola Marymount University and Reporting & Writing courses at UCLA Extension.
