South Bay Greek Festival 2026: 3 Days of Food, Dance, and Culture in Redondo Beach
One of the South Bay’s most beloved summer traditions is back. The South Bay Greek Festival returns to St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church in Redondo Beach for its 61st year, running Friday, July 10 through Sunday, July 12, 2026. Three days of authentic homemade Greek food, live music, traditional folk dancing, church tours, and genuine village-style hospitality await.
For over six decades, this festival has brought a taste of Greece to the South Bay community, with recipes passed down from volunteers whose roots span every corner of the Greek Mediterranean. Whether you’re a longtime regular or coming for the first time, there’s something here worth showing up for.

The Food: Outdoor Booths and Indoor Dining
The food is the heart of this festival, and it does not disappoint. All of the authentic cuisine is homemade by church volunteers using recipes from across the Greek Mediterranean.

Outdoor Food Booths
Outside, you’ll find festival classics served hot and fresh. Gyros come stuffed with Greek-spiced beef, tzatziki, tomato, and onion in pita. Paidakia (lamb chops) are grilled with lemon juice, fresh garlic, and Greek spices. Souvlaki options include grilled chicken or pork on a skewer. There’s also calamari, loukaniko (grilled Greek sausage), keftethes (Greek meatballs in red sauce), and meze platters with tyropita, spanakopita, dolmathes, Greek salad, tzatziki, and pita.
On the lighter side, look for horiatiki (Greek salad with feta, kalamata olives, tomato, onion, and cucumber) and Greek fries dusted with oregano, seasoning, and crumbled feta.
Save room for loukoumathes: golden fried dough puffs soaked in honey-citrus syrup and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. They’re made fresh and they go fast.

Indoor Dining Room (Buffet)
For a sit-down experience, the indoor dining room offers a full buffet spread. Expect souvlaki, baked chicken with Greek spices, moussaka, pastitsio, spanakopita, tyropita, dolmathes, fasolakia (green beans braised in Greek tomato sauce), gigantes (giant white beans in tomato sauce), Greek rice pilaf, and a traditional dinner salad with feta and kalamata olives.
It’s the kind of meal that takes time to enjoy, so come hungry and settle in.
Pastries and Desserts
The pastry table is a full event on its own. Both the outdoor booths and indoor room offer an impressive lineup including baklava (classic, chocolate-drizzled, and ice cream sundae versions), galaktoboureko (rich custard in phyllo with sweet syrup), karithopita (walnut cake), kourabiethes (powdered sugar butter cookies), melomakarona (honey-orange cookies with walnuts), koulourakia (vanilla butter cookies), amighthalota (Greek almond cookies), pasta flora (Greek jam tart), and lenten cake (vegan, with raisins, walnuts, and spices).

Drinks
The festival bar offers Greek and domestic beer, wine, Metaxa (Greek brandy), ouzo, and the fan-favorite Spartan Slush (ouzo, honey, and lemonade slush). Greek coffee, Greek frappƩ, sodas, and water are also available throughout the festival grounds.
Live Greek Music and Dance
Live Greek music plays throughout the festival, and the energy on the dance floor is contagious. The festival’s award-winning folk dance groups, made up of young performers ranging from kindergarten to college age, perform each day of the festival. These groups are nationally recognized and have been a cornerstone of the festival’s cultural programming for years.
Greek dance lessons are offered daily as well. Everyone is encouraged to get up and join in as the band plays. OPA!
Schedule Highlights
Friday gates open at 5pm, with a church tour available at 6pm, Byzantine Chant at 7pm, a Byzantine Iconography Presentation at 8pm, and Evening Prayers at 9pm.
Saturday and Sunday both open at noon. Church tours run throughout the day. Greek Dance Lessons are offered at 1:30pm and 4:30pm. Byzantine Chant Performances happen at 3pm and 6pm. Greek Folk Dance Performances take place at 7pm each evening.
Note: Admission coupons are valid Saturday and Sunday, noon to 5pm only.

Church Tours and Cultural Experiences
One of the most distinctive elements of this festival is the opportunity to step inside the church itself. Father Michael leads guided tours of the sanctuary throughout each day, offering insight into Byzantine art, architecture, and Orthodox Christian tradition. The Byzantine Chant Performances and Iconography Presentation on Friday add another layer of cultural depth for those who want to engage beyond the food and dancing.
Kids at the Festival
The South Bay Greek Festival is genuinely fun for all ages. A separately purchased wristband gives kids all-day access (Saturday and Sunday only) to a dedicated kids’ activity area with entertainment and activities throughout the day. Combined with the dance lessons and live music, younger attendees have plenty to keep them engaged.
