South Bay Gives Back: Bettolino Kitchen

Sharing is caring!

It’s safe to say that when we think of Italian food, a major image comes to mind, family. No matter the meal, no matter the wine, at the end of the day the essence of Italian food is that sense of family and legacy, something Bettolino Kitchen understands deeply. Owning a restaurant is as steeped into their family history as living South Bay is! Carrying on a spirited and authentic tradition, Bettolino Kitchen has taken the importance of food, family, and community alongside their legacy with Giving Tuesday. Giving Tuesday is their way of incorporating the soul that’s essential to food with the generosity that’s necessary for charity, giving, and community. After all, community is a kind of chosen family! Their hope, and ours, is that with your dine in meal or take out fare, you’ll take with you, an inspiring way to uplift the South Bay community.

Tell us a little about you:

“There are two things about me and my family that have remained constant over the past 65 years. The first thing is living in South Bay and the second thing is being in the restaurant business. My great grandparents started Giuliano’s in Gardena in the 50’s, then my parents came along in the 90’s and opened Gaetano’s in Torrance. Five years ago my husband, brother and I opened Bettolino Kitchen in Redondo Beach. If you are unfamiliar with Bettolino Kitchen menu, we are a California inspired Italian restaurant that specializes in handmade pasta, local produce and fresh seafood. I consider Bettolino my first baby, but since then I’ve added two additional babies to the fam. My daughter is 3 going on 13 and I have a 7 month old boy born weeks before the Covid-19 shut down.”

Please tell us about your project:

“Every month we pick a different local charity to sponsor and split our profits with on Tuesdays. We call it Giving Tuesday.”

Who are you supporting with this project?

“We support local charities or organizations whose purpose we are passionate about and believe in.”

What inspired you to do this project?

“There are so many amazing organizations helping others in our community. We wanted to figure out a way to not only raise money for them, but also give them the opportunity to share their cause with a new audience.”

How can the community support your efforts?

“Dine at Bettolino Kitchen on Tuesday’s to help raise money for local charities that we love.”
