Camp Spotlight: Paul Krumpe Soccer Academy (PKSA)
As we spotlight Paul Krumpe Soccer Academy (PKSA) this month, we’re thrilled to celebrate an incredible milestone: 30 years of soccer excellence and community building. PKSA has not just been a place where kids come to improve their soccer skills; it’s been a vibrant hub where passion for the beautiful game sparks lifelong friendships and connections.
Over the years, many families have transformed this academy into more than just a training ground. With a dedicated team comprising local college student-athletes, esteemed club, high school coaches, and enthusiastic junior staff members—all committed to fostering growth and excellence—it’s no wonder PKSA has become synonymous with quality soccer education in our community.

Tell us about your summer camp.
PKSA has become the go-to camp for South Bay soccer kids of all levels, beginner, AYSO select, and club. Thirty hours of camp each week on soft, cool grass and not blistering hot field turf. Coaches include experienced club directors and coaches, former and current collegiate players, and several former professional players. Kids have fun and develop age-appropriate skills with everyday soccer topics and World Cup Fridays.
What can one expect when attending Paul Krumpe Soccer Academy camp?
Campers will observe and practice daily skills and improve those skills with soccer games designed to help that development. They will be grouped with similar age and sex groups and make life-long friends while learning life-long lessons of teamwork and sportsmanship. Most importantly, they will have fun along the way each day.
Tell us about the owner of Paul Krumpe Soccer Academy.
Paul Krumpe (Director of PKSA) is a former US Olympic starter (1988) and US World Cup (1990) team member and a former professional and collegiate champion (UCLA 1985). He recently retired from a 30-year college coaching stint at LMU, UCLA, CSUDH, and El Camino. He was born in Torrance and developed these camps to give back to the South Bay community for the past 30 years.
How do you give back to the community?
Free camps are offered yearly to Torrance Unified Elementary Schools and local private schools like St. James, St. Lawrence, Our Lady of Guadalupe, and Riviera Lutheran. New this year, there will be a dog rescue day at PKSA from Carson Animal Shelter, where Coach Krumpe has been volunteering since retiring from college soccer.
Anything else you would like to include?
PKSA is a family affair. Paul coached his two sons, Tyler and Cameron, while they played at LMU for him. They are an integral part of PKSA and the weekly training program they run together called Tomorrow’s Stars. Both Tyler and Cameron teach in TUSD and coach three local club teams.
