General Camps in the South Bay 

Camp Awesome is a drop off only beach summer program for children ages 4-13, located at Redondo Beach and Playa Del Rey, that will run from June 12th – August 11th 2023. Camp curriculum consists of play, leisure, sports, arts and crafts, water activities, exercise, and positive reinforcement. Camp Awesome believes in campers being innovative and creative! With multiple activities provided, campers have the freedom to choose the activities they would like to participate in, creating an awesome experience for all.

Campers choose from a variety of activities in real-time including, sewing, stop-motion animation, music, sports & rec, makers crafts, bread making, and more. They’ll decide what they want to do, and for how long. 

Our summer camp provides a safe, confidence-building space for children to learn and enhance their team-building and problem-solving skills through playing fun games throughout the Peninsula Heritage School campus. Activities include a multitude of games, water play on Fridays, ice cream breaks, and more!

Chadwick School offers seven different camp options for the summer of 2023. Academic courses, Performing and Visual Arts, Sports, STEM, and discovery courses all provide an unique experience unlike any other summer program. All are welcome to attend this dynamic program taught by caring instructors who promote the Chadwick Core Values of Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Compassion, and Honesty.

YMCA – Ages K-9th (Ages vary by location)  

For campers to engage in healthy, developmentally appropriate activities and learning opportunities, YMCA Summer Day Camps offer a secure and enjoyable environment. These camps emphasize having a good time while learning while fostering social and self-esteem via engaging in new activities. Weekly themes keep campers interested and provide them a framework for learning about themselves and their surroundings. For your child to enjoy the most amazing summer ever, they have a lot of possibilities!

Valley Park Day Camp – Ages 6 to 13

Valley Park Day Camp is an all day, week long program for children ages 6 to 13 between the hours of 8:00am – 4:00pm at Hermosa Beach’s Valley Park, 2515 Valley Drive. Day campers participate in a variety of activities such as sports, drama, cooperative games, crafts, beach activities and off-site excursions to encourage social, physical and creative development. An enthusiastic leadership staff of experienced camp counselors supervises all activities. Counselor to camper ratio is 1:10.

Adventure Camp at AdventurePlex – Ages 4-12

You want the best for your kids, so give it to them with every school break! Adventure Camp has been repeatedly voted “Best Camp” in the Easy Reader’s “Best of the Beach” awards for helping kids do what they love—have fun! What they don’t realize is that the rock climbing, arts and crafts, play structure fun and Sports Court games are developing healthy habits, building self-esteem and teaching social skills—that’s the AdventurePlex way!

Peninsula Day Camp & Swim School – Ages 4-12

Day Camp is about the experience. It’s about building better people, making new friends and creating better tomorrows. The activities are simply the tools by which campers gain self-esteem, confidence, personal growth and respect for others. Amid the fun and excitement, children learn fundamentals in a variety of activities, good sportsmanship, and the thrill of accomplishment.

The Little Gym – Ages 3-12
With their seasonal programs at The Little Gym, they’ll help your child combat the summer heat or winter blues by combining physical exercise, gymnastics, games, and arts & crafts!

Sports & Activity Camps in the South Bay

Don’t let the phrases “yoga” and “mindfulness” mislead you—they actually ground the day! Along with energizing activities like yoga relay races and beach games, your child may anticipate more relaxing pursuits like crafts, journaling, meditation, and a special trip to the neighborhood farmers market. You can be confident that your child is receiving a lot of help and encouragement because class sizes are always limited.

Fun, safe, and educational surfing programs for children and teens summer long (Monday – Friday). We have by-the-day, or by-the-week options. Aqua Surf diligently hires and trains positive role models for our camp team. We have a 3 to 1 ratio of students to teachers, to ensure the highest quality safety practices and personalized attention for each camper. This helps us empower campers to gain greater confidence, build lifelong skills, create treasured memories and have an epic summer.

LA Galaxy Youth Soccer Camps provide a platform for players ages 6-16 and all levels of ability to play soccer in a challenging and exciting environment. Our professional USSF Certified Youth Coaching Staff create a unique atmosphere for all players to receive the highest coaching instruction while enjoying being developed as a soccer player. Summer Horsemanship Camp with Ocean View Riding School – Basic: 4+ Advanced: Any age but rider must be considered advanced

The summer equestrian camp this year includes riding, games, and instruction. Our program provides more riding time than other camps in an effort to help children develop self-assurance and independence while riding. Both a basic and an advanced camp will be available. The majority of students should attend basic, whereas advanced camp is targeted for those who want to display or lease property.

Aerial Gymnastics Club – Ages 5-12

Kids from 5 to 12 may take weekly gymnastics courses at AGC. Each camp has a colorful theme and offers water activities, Kona ice, and unique activities. There are both half-day and full-day choices.

Freedom Surf Camp

The main goals of Freedom Surf Camps are to introduce your children to the genuinely fantastic experience of surfing, help them adopt a healthy lifestyle, and prepare them for ocean safety. We provide a wide range of alternatives and locations around Los Angeles, including teaching on well-known beaches in places like Malibu, Manhattan Beach, and Venice/Santa Monica.

Champ camp – Ages 4-12

They have a program that is a perfect fit, no matter what your kiddo’s interests are. Camps & classes on the beach, on the board, in the park, and just about anywhere else where there is fun to be had are included in an array of offerings!

Peter Weber Equestrian Center – Ages 3-12

Learn the fundamentals of horsemanship as well as information on the maintenance of various ranch animals, such as alpacas, rabbits, goats, chickens, and pigs.

Perfect Day Surf Camp –  Ages 4- 15

Whether a novice catching and riding waves or an advanced seeking to learn to turn, cutback, tricks, and more, these campers want to enhance their surfing abilities.

TBD Jack Kramer Club –  Ages 4-12

Tennis, pool games (for SCAT campers), group games, fitness training, arts and crafts, futsal, basketball, ping pong, a sandbox with swings, air hockey, foosball, and pool golf are some of the camp activities.

Beach Sports – Ages 4-15

For children between the ages of 4 and 15, BeachSports provides instructional Beach Camps & Skateboard programs. Los Angeles County lifeguards and neighborhood elementary and middle school teachers developed their program structure to be inclusive, enjoyable, instructive, and, most importantly, safe for all of our campers. These “Camps”—a term they use to refer to a range of various program options—are provided at Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, and Hermosa Beach. Beach Camp, Surf Camp, Volleyball Camp, Junior Lifeguard Program, and Skateboard Camp are some of these camps. Each program’s curriculum has been researched and strategically created to suit campers of all ages, skill levels, and comfort zones. CPR & First-Aid trained coaches provide each program’s curriculum.

Soccer for Tots Camp – Ages 4-6

Small groups engage in organized and enjoyable activities together, such as age-appropriate Soccer for Tots training from qualified coaches, Early childhood arts & crafts with a soccer theme and a music program for young children with sing-along soccer songs.

Sinjin Smith Beach Volleyball Camp – Ages 5-15

They are a non-profit beach volleyball program designed to instruct your children in volleyball principles and teamwork. To provide your child the most enjoyable and interesting experience possible, they collaborate with knowledgeable coaches and professionals. You can opt to register for Sand and Sea or Beach Volleyball, where your youngster can practice surfing and play a ton of entertaining activities.

Redondo Beach Youth Foundation Sailing Camp – Ages 8-18

A nonprofit organization called the King Harbor Youth Foundation was founded in Southern California to encourage young people to sail. Members of King Harbor Yacht Club, who recognized the Club’s future in the growth of young sailors, founded it in 1982. This program has expanded in size and breadth, giving all young people in the community the chance to join, experience the pleasure of sailing, and gain the skills and confidence that come with strong seamanship and the Corinthian yachting heritage. Not only has this goal been accomplished.

Peninsula Sports Camps

Over 70,000 kids have attended basketball, soccer, and baseball programs offered by The Peninsula Sports Camps since its founding in 1972. The camp’s director, Tom Maier, is a well-known basketball coach in the South Bay with more than 700 victories and four CIF titles. He has a teaching certificate and a master’s degree in physical education with a focus in sports management from USC. For more than 45 years, he has been operating sports camps all throughout Southern California, and his first priority for each participant is self-improvement. Coach Maier is now the girls varsity basketball coach at Palos Verdes High School in Palos Verdes and formerly coached the boys varsity basketball team at Redondo Union High School.

South Bay Sailing – Ages 7 to 17

A full service ASA accredited sailing school and charter company.

Hermosa Surf Camp – Ages 7-17

The instructor will be in the water with you helping you catch waves. Practice paddling out and popping up. Have fun switching foot and grabbing the rail! Learn ocean safety and about the beach environment.

PV Surf Camp

P.V. Surf offers various programs depending on age and skill level. The range of programs begins with the participant who is not quite ready to start surfing (these participants will receive one-on-one support in the water at all times), up to the intermediate surfer who wants to improve on his/her skills.

Kids Surf Camps & Youth Programs – ages 5 to 17 years old

Got a Little Mermaid who’s looking for some after-school adventure, or maybe an aspiring pirate who’s a little low on vitamin Sea? Wavehuggers is excited to offer young ocean lovers (ages 5 to 17 years old) with the opportunity to learn the basics of surfing over Spring break and after school in a fun and safe environment at the Hermosa Beach Pier!

Girl Scout Day Camp: Marine Landing – K – 8th grade

Located in Long Beach, Marine Landing offers unique programming focusing on paddle sports, marine science, and Girl Scout traditions. The calm waters of Alamitos Bay offer the perfect location for beginning paddlers to learn new skills and an expansive landscape for expert mariners to seek new challenges. Staff and campers alike are dedicated to creating memories that last a lifetime with the ocean as our backdrop. Swim. Paddle. Laugh. Repeat.

Girl Scout Day Camp:  El Ranchito K- 8th grade

Tucked away in the charming suburbs of Long Beach, El Ranchito is a tree-lined high adventure day camp, where girls are encouraged to take safe risks that boost bravery and promote goal setting. Exciting, confidence-building outdoor activities include archery, low ropes, and a 32-foot climbing tower.

West End Sports Camp – Ages 5-12 

West End Sports Camp will provide your child with fun, friendship, and excitement while providing you with peace of mind that your child will be spending their glorious summer days in a safe, nurturing and athletically based camp environment.

From Scratch Bakers Ages 6+
Chef Arm’s From Scratch Bake Sessions promote baking techniques from basic to advanced. SBAC Youth Program Summer Camp – Ages 7-17

We have a spacious art studio filled with experienced young artists who guide students through a range of mediums by individualized instruction, and emphasizing students’ vision through Instinct, Illumination, Intention, Inspiration, Intellect, Imagination, and Intuition.

Our mediums include Photography, Painting, Watercolor Gel, Wax, Resin, Charcoal, Spray Paint, Photoshop, Product Development, and more… Each student has the space to work on their own individual project each session.

Art Zone

Art Zone 4 hour half day camps are fun and exciting with new ideas and creative experimentation happening every day. Each day, our dynamic instructors guide children step by step through the process of creating a wonderful art project, paying close attention to individual interests and abilities. In addition to our guided projects, your child will enjoy so many other open ended rich play activities including: Clay Table, Finger Painting, Spray Bottle Painting, Goop Table, Dress Up, Sand and Water-room Kitchen. South Bay Eco Kids is a program of TeachingGreen, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people love and protect our natural world. At Eco Kids Camp, we get children back into nature where they can thrive. No computers, no smart phones, no man-made playground equipment. Just trees and ponds, insects and wildlife, waiting to be discovered and explored.

Rolling Robots – Ages 5-14

Rolling Robots prides itself in teaching children of all learning backgrounds the core concepts of STEM, robotics, and computer programming / coding. No prior experience is required except a few advanced camps for which we have listed recommended prerequisites. Check the specific camp’s product page for details. Camp Tuvia & Kinder Camp – Ages 2-5 (including Kindergarten)

We offer a preschool summer program for children ages 2-5, including incoming kindergartners. With year round and week to week contracts available for the summer, we have a program that can fit your schedule. This summer we’re focusing on Jewish Values to help enhance our superhero skills to become great humans!

Camp Menorah – Kindergarten-12th grade

Throughout the summer, campers will engage in Jewish and community experiences and exploration, including service projects, in-house special events, and creative endeavors. Combine this with summer camp favorites like sports, singing, arts and crafts, and water games and you have a summer full of both fun and learning. We help all kids thrive, learn, and grow.

Camp Gan Izzy

Camp Gan Israel, under the auspices of the Jewish Community Center – Chabad – is part of the largest and fastest growing network of Jewish day camps in the world. Gan Israel enjoys a well-earned reputation as a trendsetter with innovative ideas, creative programs and new activities.

Educational, Learning & Language in the South Bay

Our camps blend the latest teaching methods, engaging activities and games, and a fun rewards system to inspire your child in learning. Best In Class Education Torrance – Ages 5-14

In-person 6-week summer camp is a great opportunity for K-8th graders to stay sharp, learn, and have fun in a non-screen live format 5 days/week. The academic camp (morning) will prepare students for the upcoming year with instruction in Next-level+ Math, Next-level English and Creative Writing. The enrichment camp (afternoon) will be full of creative pursuits like arts, drama, speech, and exercise. Namaste India Camp – Campers will learn about India from the following vantage points: Stories and theater; crafts and folk art; Bollywood dance; yoga and meditation; and traditional games.  Amazing Asia Camp – Through creative play, campers will learn about four Asian countries this year: China, Thailand, Japan and India.

Spanish in Action – Manhattan Beach.  Ages 4-9

Our Spanish Immersion Camps of 33 years are carefully thought out to provide children with a memorable and fun language learning experience!   Your children will be totally immersed and learning a ton of Spanish while having a blast, giving special emphasis on acquiring the language through extended game playing, singing songs, dancing, arts and crafts, storytelling, pretend stores, acting, and using their five senses in order to learn to converse in Spanish. We rotate centers and activities every 30 minutes to reinforce the lesson of the day and the theme of each week.

A Journey to Brazil Summer Camp – Ages 5-10

Join us at the ArteLuta Capoeira Academy in Lomita, CA for a dynamic and fun-filled exploration of Brazil, one of the most diverse and spectacularly beautiful countries in South America. Our summer camp is a full day (9am-2pm) of fun and educational activities for ages 5-10 celebrating Brazil and the amazing flora and fauna of the Amazon Rainforest. Kids will play capoeira (martial art), soccer, learn maculelê drumming and dancing. There will also be arts and crafts, storytelling, slime creation, screenprinting, and animal mask making. Magic Beans OT Program – for children ages 3-8 with special needs

It is an intensive week of occupational therapy designed to push children towards their next developmental level all while having a blast. Located at Pump it Up in Torrance.

Camp Kesem at Long Beach State – ages of 6-18 (geared towards kids who have loved ones affected by cancer)

We serve children who have lost a parent to cancer, have a parent undergoing cancer treatment, or whose parent is a cancer survivor – an estimated population of over 5 million children in the United States. Camp Kesem runs over 100 weeks of fun, action-packed and 100% free-of-charge camps from coast-to-coast every summer. Serving children ages 6 to 18, our campers experience a warm and loving environment with other children who have similar life experiences. This community provides the foundation for confidence building, improved communication skills, enhanced life outlook and attitude.
