LA Kings and Local Anchor Give Back to Children’s Hospital LA
Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to spread a little love in your community. This year we partnered with the LA Kings to help patients at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Learn more about our efforts and how you can still get involved even if you missed the event.
LA Kings Blood Drive
Together with the LA Kings, Local Anchor hosted a fun and exciting event benefiting Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. The newly designed LA Kings Blood Mobile was on-site at The Point in El Segundo to accept blood donations for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Everyone who completed a blood donation received a certificate for a pair of tickets to the LA Kings at Crypto.com Arena. Attendees also had a chance to meet the Ice Crew and the one and only Bailey, the Los Angeles Kings mascot.
Children’s Hospital Los Angeles’ blood drive data reported that we registered 45 donors and collected a total of 36 units of blood, which can potentially help save up to 72 lives!
If you couldn’t attend or would like more info on how to donate blood to CHLA, visit their blood donation site.
CHLA Book Collection
During the blood drive event, we collected book donations for CHLA. If you weren’t able to attend the event, you can still donate a book to CHLA online anytime via their Amazon wishlist. Their current needs include:
- Spanish books – for all ages
- Board books – especially interactive and touch-and-feel
- Dr. Seuss books – picture books and board books
Local Anchor Valentine’s Kindness Project
In addition to the blood drive and book collection, the event also served as a drop-off location for the 2022 Local Anchor Valentine Kindness Project. This year we invited families to get crafty with some homemade Valentine’s cards that were distributed to local hospitals in the LA area. Altogether we collected and donated over 2,000 cards!
