Kindness Project: Heart Bookmarks
Kindness Project: Heart Bookmarks
One way to spread love and kindness in your neighborhood is to make special heart bookmarks for your local library or school. This is an easy and fun project you can do with your little ones to help teach kindness and love.
What you need:
- Scarp book paper
- White paper
- Glue stick
- Markers
We recommend starting this project by reading the story Love Monster and the Perfect Present by Rachel Bright.
Then ask your child the following questions:
- What are some ways to show that you love and care about someone?
- What are some ways you can spread love to your neighborhood and community?
How to make a Heart Bookmark:
Step 1: Draw or print out a white heart.
Step 2: Cut a piece of scrapbook paper 8.5 inches by 2 inches. You can find sales on beautiful scrapbook paper at Michaels.
Step 3: Glue the heart at the top of the scrapbook paper.
Step 4: Write a kind message in the heart to make someoneās day!
Step 5: Donate your bookmarks to your school or neighborhood library. With permission, hide each bookmark in a book for someone else to find! You will make someone feel super loved!
Show us your bookmarks by snapping a photo and sharing on social media. Be sure to tag @SouthBayMommies and @WishKindnessClub on Instagram and @Local Anchor on Facebook! #SouthBayGivesBack
Adrien Murphy loves teaching 2nd grade at WISH Charter Community School! Mrs. Murphy earned her BA degree and teaching credential from California State University Northridge. She decided to become a teacher because watching her mom teach inspired her to want to make a difference and help kids believe in themselves. She adores teaching kindness and mindfulness in her classroom and social skills during her after school Kindness Club. Her dream is to inspire kindness in the world and to help schools and communities start Kindness Clubs.
