Tell us a little about you?
“I am a transplant from Texas, living in the South Bay for over 21 years. I met my now husband the weekend I arrived at a party although we both worked for Club Med resorts. I studied prenatal fitness in graduate school at the University of North Texas so I was hired at the Sports Club LA as the prenatal and postpartum fitness specialist. After having my daughter in 2002, I wrote a prenatal fitness course for the National Academy of Sports Medicine.”
How do you give back to/support our community?
“I taught for Beach Cities Health District and Adventure Plex, when it opened, teaching the mommy and me exercise classes. After having two more kids, I shifted my energy into environmental awareness and worked for an educational environmental non profit called Grades of Green. I helped the schools in Redondo create trash sorting stations and learn about reducing and reusing. I was awarded recognition by the Redondo PTA in 2017. During all of this, I created a program called ācoremomā, which stands for corrective obstetrical related exercises. This fitness program is designed for pregnancy women and new moms to target and restore the muscles affected by pregnancy and delivery. I am very lucky to now offer my program at a fitness studio that I own in Redondo Beach, called Beach Life Fitness Boutique.”
“My passion is helping women through this journey. I absolutely love what I do. Being a mother is overwhelming, and we need all the support we can get! I just finished writing a course for medical and fitness professionals on the various hormonal phases and how they affect women in the types of exercise and nutrition thatās most beneficial. I will be presenting it February 2020 at UC Irvine :)”
