Santa Float Kickoff at Robinson Helicopter
The community is invited to celebrate the return of the float at the official kickoff event on Sunday, November 30 at 4 p.m. at the Robinson Helicopter Company campus on Airport Drive. Santa will make his grand entrance in a red Robinson R66 helicopter, marking the start of his 26 night tour across Torrance. Families can enjoy photo opportunities, visit with Torrance police officers, and pick up toy helicopter souvenirs and R66 beanies while supplies last.
A Longstanding Torrance Tradition
The TPOA Santa Float first launched in 1992 after a group of Torrance police officers sketched out an idea to bring holiday cheer directly into the neighborhoods they served. Over the decades, the float grew into a treasured tradition, visiting every residential street from Thanksgiving through Christmas. After 2020, staffing limitations and public health restrictions forced a significantly reduced schedule. With renewed support and long term planning from Robinson Helicopter Company and the Torrance Police Foundation, the full route is officially back.
Support Behind the Scenes
The Torrance Police Foundation and Van Lingen Towing are part of the operational team that ensures the float can safely travel through the city each night. Van Lingen Towing will provide the truck and personnel for the floatās nightly neighborhood routes.
2025 Torrance Santa Float Schedule
The Santa Float will travel through Torrance for 26 nights. All routes begin at 4 p.m. or 5 p.m. depending on the map area. Residents can find the complete route maps online at the TPOA website.
