When you find out you are pregnant, one of the first things you do is start registering for baby items. But what do you need? Here is a list of some of the most important items to put on your registry.
I’m so exciting to be expecting baby number two this year. My first little one is almost four, so it’s been a while since I have done a baby registry. Luckily, I have been able to attend many events over the last few years that introduced me to all the new and improved baby products and of course some oldies but goodies. One of my favorite events to attend is the LA Baby Show, coming up this November! If you are expecting, this is one to attend and you can use the code “LauraS50” to save 50%.
I chatted with a some of my mom friends and pulled together this list of must haves on your registry! Take a look at some of our favorites. And let me know in the comments what some of your “must haves” are, I might add them to my list!

Must Have Items for Your Baby Registry
Scratch Mittens are super helpful in the first few weeks so little ones won’t scratch their faces.
Swaddling is important to provide warmth and security to newborns. These swaddles make it super easy to swaddle your little one.
Little ones are so small when young and their skin is typically so sensitive. Honest Company is my favorite brand for bathing.
I love all things aden + anais because of their breathable material and cute patterns. Here are a few must haves, but there are many more colors and patterns to choose from.
I’m excited to try the Halo Bassinet. We already have one ready to go, I love how it moves around easily and can go next to my bed so baby is close.
Fisher Price Swing is a must have, I used this all the time with my 1st.
A good diaper bag is a must, that’s why the Ju-Ju-Be B.F.F. Convertible Diaper Bag is at the top of my must-have list. I’m one of those moms that likes to be over prepared and this bag allows all my items to be organized and easy to get to in a very stylish bag.
A Pack ‘n Play / Playard is a great item to have on hand for baby. We have the Graco one, but 4Moms and Joovy are also great options. Great for moving from room to room and great for taking on the road. It’s a great space for baby’s to sleep and to play.
There are so many strollers on the market these days, it almost feels like shopping for a car. Everyone’s needs are different, so I highly recommend going somewhere to test all the strollers and see which one best fits your needs. Here’s one of my favorites, the UPPAbaby VISTA Stroller. This is one of my favorite strollers with lots of accessories so the stroller can grow with your family.
An activity saucer is a great option once your little one is able to hold their head up. There are many different designs and options for entertaining your little one.
We loved our baby swing and so did baby. Although this item is only used for a short time, you’ll be so happy you have it.
Buying a car seat is another very important decision to make, if not the most important decision when getting items ready for baby. You need to make sure that your child is in the appropriate seat at all stages based on height and weight. Once you get your car seat, I highly recommend consulting with a Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPST) to ensure your seat is properly installed. Kristen Kay is a local CPST, click here to learn more.
Here are a few other accessories for baby. MAM is a great company and my LO loved their pacifiers. You’ll want to get a breast feeding pillow like the Boppy and of course burp clothes, my favorite are these from Carter’s.
These are some of my favorite baby products! What are yours? What was on your must have list that you were so glad you had. Leave it in the comments and I might add to the list!
