The New Descanso Railroad
The ever-popular Descanso passenger train has been a staple of the beautiful botanic gardens since 1996. Now the railroad experience is expanding with the addition of an innovative model train display. Visitors can watch model trains travel through a variety of unique and captivating landscapes and depots set against the backdrop of the gardens.
Designed by Applied Imagination, a renowned company celebrated for designing iconic botanical models and sculptures paired with G scale model trains, the display features landscapes and depots made from natural materials, many of which have been sourced directly from Descanso Gardens. Each depot represents an actual American railway station.
In addition to the miniature train experience, the Descanso Railroad also features a new train platform where passengers with purchased tickets can board the popular electric train for a ride through the garden.
