Community Spotlight: Ask Dr. Mom
What inspired you to launch this business?
“Surprisingly, it’s not Covid-19!! Although telemedicine has gotten a lot more attention lately I had been thinking about launching this business many months ago. My favorite part of being a pediatrician is the relationships you develop and being available for all child care needs. With office visits getting shorter and shorter I felt that there a huge chunk of that relationship building and questions answering missing. The part of just talking and getting to know each other and then really taking time to answer questions without a room full of people waiting in the waiting room.”
What is one of your proudest moments?
“Being a mom…watching my kids grow up and getting unsolicited positive feedback. My career has always been second when it comes to my family life and I don’t think I would change that, but now that the kids are older I’m excited to start this new venture.”
What can one expect when working with you/visiting your location?
“You can expect to be seen quickly and you can expect your concerns to be completely addressed. Although there are some limitations to only virtual visits I do feel many things can be discussed and hopefully resolved. If there is something that needs more than a televisit, I will be sure to get you to the right place whether it’s urgent care or ER or your doctor’s office.”
Tell us a little about you:
“I am a California native but moved to the South Bay about 10 years ago. Prior to that I was following my husband around in completing his training. I’ve worked in many different capacities, such as outpatient clinics, urgent care and hospital settings. My kids are now 13 and 10 and they attend local manhattan beach schools. My husband and I have been married for almost 17 years.”
What do you enjoy doing in the South Bay when you are not working?
“When I’m not watching my kids at a sporting event, I enjoy being outside; hiking, running, beaching! I also love my daily workouts usually at the bay club. I enjoy meeting up and catching up with friends when we can get together and I make a point to reach out to people!”
How do you give back to the community?
“I think philanthropy is so important and I really try to ingrain that into our lives and into my kids!! I have been a part of Sandpiper for over 5 years, I’m a board member of our local synagogue. I’m a member of the MBUSD medical advisory board to help with medical related concerns in our school district. I donate regularly to Big Brother and Big Sisters along with many other organizations that are important to us. When we have time and opportunity arises I also enjoy doing one day projects around town with my family such as Clean the Bay, or Meals on Wheels.”
