What inspired you to write this story?
“Hello Coco!” grew out of author Latrice’s real life experience of cooking with her niece, who would often take breaks from meal preparation to do activities. Each time she returned to the kitchen, Latrice would greet her by saying “welcome back, remember you have to wash your hands.” Eventually the phrase turned the saying into a song encouraging good hygiene that her niece would sing even when Latrice was away!

Tell us a little about 2L Publishing.
Started in 2022 by Latrice and Larry McGlothin. The company grew out of the desire for us to want to share, read, laugh and reminisce about our stories told in our own voices.
Growing up, I did not have books that reflected my experiences, my family’s communication style, my hair journey, my image or so many other facets of my growing years in the positive and impactful way that I remember.
