Community Spotlight: U Help You
This Community Spotlight is an extra special one because we got to learn more about Melissa Dumaz, who is also one of the writers for Local Anchor. We wanted to learn more about her Marriage & Family Therapy practice, so she is featured as our next Community Spotlight!
Tell us about your business?
“I am a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and U Help You is my Private Practice. It is located in Torrance, CA where I provide counseling services for women dealing with recent and/or past trauma, grief & loss, and all stages of motherhood.”
What inspired you to launch this business?
“At an early age I knew I wanted to help people and to be my own boss, so I began my business shortly after I became a licensed therapist. I took five years off to focus on being a stay home mom and then relaunched my Practice when my children became of school-age.”
What is one of your proudest moments?
“I feel joy when a client is discharged from therapy due to progress made. Seeing my clients heal from past and recent hurts brings me joy.”
What can one expect when working with you?
“My therapy office is a place for healing. It is a sacred place. In this sacred place for healing I hold space. I hold space by walking alongside my clients in whatever journey they are on. I open my heart and offer unconditional support, without judgement.”
Tell us a little about you:
“I am a South Bay Resident. I love this community and the families in it. I am a happily married mom of three kids. I appreciate the South Bay for the easy beach access and the diversity in the area.”
What do you enjoy doing in the South Bay when you are not working?
“When I’m not working I spend time with family and friends, head to the beach, and I love cooking and exploring new things and places in our community.”
How do you give back to the community?
“I often give through donations and by giving my time to local churches and mommy groups to help other families live their best life.”
