Descanso Gardens is Blooming this Spring
Descanso Gardens is well known for Descanso Gardens Enchanted: Forest of Light, but there are many reasons to visit throughout the year! They are starting to see lots of colorful spring blooms, have incredible hiking trails and beautiful roses in the Rose Garden. Whether you’re looking for a great outdoor activity or just want to relax in nature, Descanso Gardens is a wonderful option for any visitor.

Descanso Gardens is Blooming with Spring Flowers
The Gardens will be overflowing with blooms of every kind in March as a result of all the winter rain, including tulips, cherry blossoms, lilacs, irises, camellias, daffodils, and a whole lot more. With a range of inspiring, instructive, and entertaining activities, come discover the grandeur for yourself.
SHIKI: The Four Seasons in Japanese Art
From February 18 through May 21, Descanso’s Sturt Haaga Gallery will host SHIKI: The Four Seasons in Japanese Art, showcasing the magnificent designs of the four seasons in Japanese art. This Claremont exhibition from the Scripps College collection showcases delicate pieces with frequent seasonal patterns, including a vase with wisteria blooms adorning the interior or a kimono with maple leaves. Programs will be offered to complement the show, including gallery tours, discussions, and hands-on activities that will involve both people and families in the creative process.
Cherry Blossom Season
It’s cherry blossom season! The Beni Hoshi’ and The ‘Akebono’ cherry blossoms are starting to bloom en masse in the Japanese Garden. They will likely reach peak bloom within earl April, weather-dependent.

Spring/Summer Hours begin March 20
Descanso will keep its doors open from 5ā7pm daily from March 20āAugust 31, 2023. Stroll through the garden after work on a weekday or soak in seasonal blooms on a weekend evening.

Enchanted Railroad
See Descanso Gardens from a 1/8th-scale diesel train replica. Children and adults of all ages enjoy riding the Enchanted Railroad, a Descanso landmark. The railroad travels through a section of the Gardens near the Promenade area.
Tickets: Timed tickets are $5 each and must be purchased at the Visitor Center.
*Please note: The train does not run in the rain.
The Kitchen at Descanso
The Kitchen is the newest addition to Descanso Gardens and promises a fresh, modern dining experience. Enjoy the garden scenery from the terrace while sampling delicious dishes that use local, seasonal produce.
About Descanso Gardens
Current Descanso Gardens hours are 9am to 7pm. Last entry time for members is 4:30pm. There is ample free parking.
Descanso is open every day of the year with the exception of December 25.
Founded as a public garden in 1953, Descanso Gardens is located at 1418 Descanso Drive, La CaƱada Flintridge, CA 91011.
Open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Admission is $15 for adults; $11 for seniors and students with a school I.D.; $5 for children 5 to 12, and free for children under 5.
