DISNEY LIVE! Mickey & Minnie’s Doorway to Magic
If I’m going to go out on a school/work night and keep everyone up late, it has to be for something special. And I’m happy to say that DISNEY LIVE! Mickey & Minnie’s Doorway to Magic definitely IS. And there are literal doors on the stage that lead to enchanted worlds!
We saw the show on Thursday, January 18th at the Long Beach Performing Arts Center, and it was engaging from the first moment, as Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy appeared to welcome everyone. This show is really cool because not only do you get to experience some of Disney’s most beloved stories and songs (CINDERELLA/BIBBITY BOBBITY BOO), but there is also MAGIC. Like, for real, people-and-things-floating-through-the-air-how-did-they-do-THAT kind of tricks. The dancing and acrobatics are terrific, and there was even a jump roping scene during the TOY STORY segment that had the crowd cheering! And, the costumes and lighting and set design were flawless.
The best part, though, was watching my children watch the show. The joy on their faces as they laughed and clapped along with Woody and Tinkerbell and Rapunzel is something I will always remember, as this was my little daughter’s first Disney Live! show. But you don’t have to be a kid to enjoy it; this is great entertainment for the young AND young at heart.
DISNEY LIVE! Mickey & Minnie’s Doorway to Magic runs about 90 minutes and has a short intermission. There are some sparks and smoke and laser beams that are used, which might startle younger children. Click here to see where DISNEY LIVE! Mickey & Minnie’s Doorway to Magic will be next!
