Lunar New Year Celebration at South Coast Botanic Garden
The inaugural Lunar New Year Celebration at South Coast Botanic Garden will use the winter blossoms and green foliage as the perfect background to ring in the year of the rabbit, filled with red lanterns and fun events. Crafting Chinese zodiac scrolls, making paper lanterns, cutting Chinese paper, playing Chinese games, watching a Chinese calligrapher in action, and storytelling are just a few of the experiences available throughout the course of the weekend. Activities will start on Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m. Below is a list of all the events.
Activity Stations will be open from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., including:
• Calligraphy demonstrations
• Piped in music
• Walking Tours: Spring Festival and preparing for spring
• New Year’s Well Wishes
• Photo opportunity
• Food and beverages for sale at Dottie’s
Live Performances will take place at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., including:
• Lion dancers
• Musical performance
• Fan dancing
• Martial Arts
Story Time will take place at noon and 3 p.m.
