Juneteenth Celebrations in the South Bay
Juneteenth commemorates the day the last remaining enslaved people in the United States learned that the Civil War was over and they were liberated by orders given in President Lincolnās Emancipation Proclamation. The date was June 19, 1865, two and a half years after Lincolnās proclamation.
Annual events and ceremonies honor and remember these important events in history. You can join in the celebration at one of these family-friendly events in the South Bay community.
