South Coast Botanic Garden invites the community to celebrate the Lunar New Year this February with a vibrant, family friendly event set among winter blooms and lush greenery. The Lunar New Year Celebration honors the Year of the Horse and showcases Chinese, Vietnamese, and Korean traditions through interactive activities, live performances, cultural games, and festive food experiences.
The celebration takes place on February 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, and 22, offering multiple weekends to explore the Garden while experiencing one of the most meaningful cultural celebrations of the year in a scenic outdoor setting on the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

What to Expect at the Lunar New Year Celebration
Included with General Garden Admission, visitors can enjoy immersive cultural experiences throughout the Garden from morning through late afternoon. Interactive stations allow guests of all ages to participate in hands on traditions including the Chinese handkerchief dance, Korean Yutnori, Vietnamese Bįŗ§u Cua CĆ” Cį»p, and classic Chinese Mahjong.
The event also features the return of the popular Wishing Tree and Zodiac Stroll, along with a new dragon walk experience and a morning tai chi class that adds a peaceful start to the day. A dedicated photo moment will be available to capture memories of the celebration surrounded by seasonal blooms.

Live Performances and Cultural Shows
On Saturdays and Sundays, live performances will take place inside the Garden Hall at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. These performances include lion dancers, martial artists, folk dancers, and drummers, bringing high energy cultural traditions to life.
Show tickets are offered as an add on and are expected to sell out on many dates and times, so advance ticket purchase is strongly recommended.
Food and Drinks at the Garden
Dottieās at the Koi Pond will serve a special Lunar New Year inspired menu from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Guests can also enjoy hand mixed cocktails and specialty foods available for purchase during the event, making it easy to turn the visit into a full day experience.

There are two ticket options available for the Lunar New Year Celebration.
Lunar New Year General Garden Admission
Members receive free admission.
Non members pricing includes $18 for adults ages 18 and up, $8 for children ages 3 to 12, free for children ages 2 and under, and $14 for students and seniors ages 62 and up.
Lunar New Year General Garden Admission plus Show
Members pay $7 per person, with children ages 2 and under free.
Non members pay $27 for adults, $17 for children ages 3 to 12, free for children ages 2 and under, and $23 for students and seniors.
Interactive stations are available throughout the Garden from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
