Peppa Pig for Christmas this Year

ByLocal Anchor December 11, 2017December 3, 2021

Peppa Pig for Christmas this Year

My daughter has been asking for everything Peppa Pig for Christmas this year, so I couldn’t think of a better surprise than taking her to the live show! My family of 4 attended the 5 pm show at the Microsoft Theater at LA Live. It was so much fun, I couldn’t wait to share.

This post is sponsored.  Local Anchor was given tickets to attend the show.

The show features Peppa, George, Mummy Pig, and Daddy Pig as well as a few of Peppa’s friends, Mr. Potato, and Daisy, the only human in the story. Daisy interacts with the audience and encourages participation throughout the show, which is super fun for the kids. There are songs throughout the show and the audience is given free reign to sing and dance along! This was a huge hit for my kids, and wonderful for those who have a tough time sitting still. A few of the songs even have dance moves that Daisy teaches to the audience.

The show begins in the front yard of the Pigs’ home with a cute game of hide and seek. You are introduced to all the characters, who are kid sized marionettes on wheels, guided by puppeteers in black clothing. I initially wondered if the puppeteers would be distracting to the kids, but neither of mine mentioned them! A few of the characters, including Mummy and Daddy Pig are full sized adults in costume. The show switches locations a few times including the front yard, bathroom for bath time, bedroom, car, and seaside. All the scenery, plus songs and dances are great for keeping little ones with short attention spans engaged.

For any parents out there with sensory concerns, here are a few tips. There is a short period of time where the whole theater is dark (stage included) and there are black-lit sea creatures dancing on stage. It’s not scary at all, and I didn’t see any kids having trouble with it, but I thought I would include a heads up just in case. The theater isn’t overly loud, but it is cold, bring layers!

Now, on to the location. The Microsoft Theater is located in LA live, which is FULL of fun stuff to do. It’s also FULL of people! The car show was going on while we were there and parking was tough! Plan some extra time if there are any other events in the area. The theater itself was very nice, but the lobby was small and got a bit crowded, so make sure the littles hold hands! Finally, plan to have your small ones sit on your lap. My kiddos are 3 and 5 and both needed a lap to sit on to be able to see the stage. On the bright side, there are giant screens on either side of the stage, so if they can’t see the stage, they can see the screen!

All in all, it was a great time. If your kids are Peppa fans, it’s a must!
