ANT-MAN AND THE WASP Movie Review

Bylara scott July 9, 2018September 29, 2021

ANT-MAN AND THE WASP
After seeing AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, with that oh-no-they-did-NOT-just-do-THAT ending, I was thinking about what a big movie that was, and wondering what it would be like to see the next Marvel Studios film. Well, that next film is ANT-MAN AND THE WASP, and whether it was on purpose or just worked out this way, I think it was really smart that they didn’t try to outdo INFINITY WAR with surprises. This film excels in a quieter way, with sweet family moments that made me cry and other moments so funny that I was crying tears of laughter.

This post is sponsored.Ā  We were given tickets to attend a screening ofĀ ANT-MAN AND THE WASP.

I will say that a background in quantum physics will help you understand the plot; there was so much scientific jargon being thrown around that I really can’t tell you exactly what was happening, other than that Hope/the Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) and her dad, Hank, (Michael Douglas) have been trying to find a way to locate Hope’s mom/Hank’s wife, Janet, (Michelle Pfeiffer) who disappeared into another realm decades before. Through an interesting twist, Scott/Ant-Man, (Paul Rudd) gets involved in the effort to find her and bring her back, even though he is technically under house arrest. Buuuuut of course there’s someone that wants to stop them, which leads to all kind of cool fight scenes that highlight the awesome Wasp and Ant-Man suits. But IMHO, it is Michael Pena as Luis, Scott’s business partner, who totally steals the show! I loved every moment he was onscreen.

Working out family dynamics, Hope’s ponytail, Stan Lee’s cameo, Scott’s sweet moments with his little girl, and the Wasp flying right at me (I saw the film in IMAX 3D) were some of the highlights of this fun summer film. It was a bit intense with a PG-13 rating and the plot was confusing, so I can’t recommend this one for the younger kids in the family, but for teens and Marvel moms and dads it’s a winner! And be sure to stay for those TWO post-credit scenes, which MAY shed some light on what is coming in AVENGERS 4.
