But I wished there was a way to have the prescription delivered to me so I didn’t have to throw everyone in the car and head to the pharmacy! Well, now there is a local option with Alto Pharmacy. Based in Culver City, they will deliver your prescriptions right to your door… in the South Bay!

What inspired you to launch this business?
“More than 50% of prescriptions in the U.S. are never even picked up from the pharmacy, meaning many of our friends, neighbors and loved ones are not getting regular access to the medications they need to manage their health. Alto’s co-founders were inspired by the idea of rethinking how a pharmacy could best serve its customers and deliver exceptional care. And they found the model for the type of care they believed a pharmacy could – and should – offer in the staff of a small community pharmacy based in San Francisco’s Mission District called AG Pharmacy. After learning from the AG team’s experiences and commitment to the community, Alto was launched to bring affordable, safe and reliable access to medications for those living across Southern California.“
What is one of your proudest moments?
“We’re most proud of the community network we’ve built over the past four years. Much like the staff of AG (many of whom still work with us at Alto) put their neighbors and friends at the center of their pharmacy practice, the Alto care team walks in their footsteps every day. In addition to filling more than 1 million prescriptions direct to customers’ doorsteps, we have a San Francisco-based team of more than 200 and local pharmacy teams in Culver City and Irvine. We work with hundreds of the area’s leading physicians, medical practitioners, and health systems to share the word about Alto’s services.“

“Mattieu Gamache-Asselin, CEO & Co-founder and Jamie Karraker, CTO & Co-founder were two engineers from Facebook. Jamie and Matt left their jobs to start a company that could create lasting change in the world and have a massive impact on people’s lives.
Our local pharmacy and courier teams in Culver City and Irvine include many life-long Southern California residents. We come from pharmacy and medical backgrounds, engineering and product development, business and customer support. We’re your neighbors and proud to have built this new model for a pharmacy in your backyard.“
How do you give back to the community?
Alto’s PPE donation pick-up drive adds more windows in San Francisco, launches donation pick-up windows in Seattle, Los Angeles and Orange County. Learn more here.
As a member of the healthcare community, we’ve been particularly inspired by the efforts of our colleagues working on the frontlines during COVID-19. To show our support, we’ve been running a personal protective equipment (PPE) donation pick-up drive using our courier fleet. We’ve been able to pick up thousands of much-needed items like masks, goggles, globes and cleaning supplies, and deliver them to Southern California area hospitals. There are still a few delivery windows available if you have extra supplies on hand.
