Community Spotlight: Joymode
I discovered Joymode a while back and immediately fell in love with their service! They would drop off awesome items for your entertaining needs! If you were having a party, you could rent giant sized games and a margarita machine! Want to chill under the stars and watch a movie with the kids on a warm summer night, you can rent a screen, projector, chairs, and even a popcorn machine! So fun! I was really excited to hear Joymode now has a new pickup location in Torrance for your convenience! Just choose warehouse pickup and select Torrance in the calendar. They’’ll be there every Friday from 2pm – 5pm for reservation pickup, and every Monday at the same time for drop off. Making it even easier to get rentals. AND now they have even more rentals, so you can try new things every weekend with friends, maybe a date-night or hanging with your kiddos.
This is a sponsored post, but we are selective on the companies we work with to ensure they align with our community.
We got to catch-up with the owner of Joymode to learn even more about the company!
Tell us about your company?
“Looking to spend quality time with your kids? Joymode is a club for real-life joy. We elevate your everyday moments with curated product bundles delivered to your door and picked up when you’re done.
Want to spend quality time with the kids? Joymode can deliver you a family game night or everything you need to make homemade ice cream. Have guests coming for the weekend? Encourage them to embarrass themselves with our Karaoke Night and then let them sleep it off in comfort with our Guest Essentials bundle. You’ll save money, space and the environment by borrowing instead of buying.
Joymode is based in Los Angeles and has thousands of products and great ideas for how to use them. You can make your small moments big starting at just $22 per month at Joymode.com.”
What inspired you to launch this business?
“Several years ago I moved from LA to NYC. I met my future wife out there and when we moved in together our apartment was so small that anything we bought we had to get rid of something to make room. That really changed how I felt about ownership. I loved not having our home cluttered with stuff, but hated feeling constrained by what we didn’t own.
I moved back to LA and started Joymode to make it easy to do things in the real world with the people who matter most to you without having the consumption hangover of debt, clutter and environmental impact.”
What is one of your proudest moments?
“I love hearing the stories of how our members use Joymode. Their first reservation is usually something like a backyard movie night. This is a great one to reconnect with friends and neighbors. From there people usually do something more chill. My favorite is when people tell me about how Joymode helps them unlock quality time with their kids. Knowing that we get to play a part in helping people come together in the real world means a lot to the team and I.”
What can one expect when working with you?
“We are fully committed to bringing joy into people’s lives. At Joymode, we pride ourselves on curating the very best products and providing you with great ideas in how to seamlessly use them in your life. If you ever have questions or issues while using Joymode products we are there for you. The Joymode team is available on live chat until 10pm every night. “
Tell us a little about you:
“When I first moved to LA I was based in Redondo Beach. I love the South Bay, but now live in Los Feliz with my wife, our three year old son and two year old daughter. Joymode is my secret “awesome dad” weapon. I bring stuff home almost every weekend for us to play together. My daughter is really into the Ponycycle and my son loves the Anki Overdrive Racetrack. I love getting the stuff out of the house and reclaiming our living room when they inevitably move on to the next thing to play with.”
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
“With a startup and two toddlers I don’t get much time. I love trying to find the perfect taco spot though.”
How do you give back to the community?
“Yes, I’m really proud of how our company and employees give back to the LA community. For example, we work with the The Birthday Party Project, an organization that hosts monthly birthday parties at homeless and transitional living facilities across the country. Joymode employees volunteer their time, and we also donate supplies to the parties.
Another great organization we work with is The Downtown Women’s Center (DWC), the only organization in Los Angeles focused exclusively on serving and empowering women experiencing homelessness, as well as formerly homeless women. We have partnered with them on a spring cleaning bundle where all donations from our members go directly to them.”
