Whale of a Day

Whale of a Day

The City of Rancho Palos Verdes and Los Serenos de Point Vicente invite you to the 39th annual Whale of a Day Celebration on April 13 at the Point Vicente Interpretive Center!

Join us from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for this free, community favorite event celebrating the migration of the Pacific gray whale from its summer feeding grounds in the Bering and Chukchi Seas in Alaska, to the winter breeding and calving grounds in Baja California.

The day will feature whale watching, children’s games and crafts, tours of the Point Vicente Interpretive Center museum, live entertainment and an array of marine-themed vendors and organizations, plus food trucks, a beer and wine garden, a silent auction and raffle, and U.S. Coast Guard tours of the Point Vicente Lighthouse grounds.

Performances will include sea shanties by Jordan Bush, rock tribute band Crossroads, and bluegrass group Smoky Hollow.

There will be no on-site parking for Whale of a Day. Parking and a shuttle service will be provided for free at the Ken Dyda Civic Center at 30940 Hawthorne Boulevard.
