Thomas Dambo TROLLS: Save the Humans at South Coast Botanic Gardens

Starting October 1, 2023

If you ever feel the ground trembling or catch the distant rumbling near South Coast Botanic Garden, fear not – it’s simply the arrival of the trolls. Join us on October 1st for the West Coast premiere of Thomas Dambo TROLLS: Save the Humans, featuring the remarkable artist’s enchanting troll sculptures constructed from repurposed materials, inspired by folklore.

These larger-than-life trolls, a total of six, have convened within our 87-acre garden with the noble intention of assisting humankind. You see, during the grand gathering known as “Trolliefolkyfest,” hundreds of trolls congregated to discuss their favorite subject – us humans. They acknowledge our good intentions but can’t help but notice our troublesome choices, such as deforestation, river depletion, and the peril we put ourselves and our troll counterparts in.

Many trolls have lost hope in our redemption, but these six believe they possess the power to assist us. And now, they are en route to our sanctuary…
