Dance Squad With Ailey
NOGGIN, Nickelodeonās interactive learning platform is launching a brand new series designed to introduce kids to the world of dance and music. Just in time for National Physical Fitness and Sports Month as well as Mental Health Awareness Month this new series aims to help kids grow gross motor skills, assist in brain development, and hone their social and emotional learning through dance.
Dance Squad with Ailey was developed in a partnership with NYCās famed Alvin Ailey dance organization. Each 10-minute episode of Dance Squad focuses on a different genre of dance: hip hop, ballet, Horton, Latin fusion, jazz, and West African. Taught by instructors from Ailey, kids will learn moves from each style, culminating in a complete routine. An accompanying short delves into the origins of each music genre. Host Keith Alexander is joined by DJ Rubble (PAW Patrol), a dancing dinosaur named Boogie, and several students.
āAiley uses dance performances, classes and community programs to inspire, enlighten and entertain all ages and backgrounds. We are excited to partner with the team at Noggin to take our in-studio classes to on-demand video so that young people nationwide can join in the dance whenever and wherever they want,ā said Lisa Johnson-Willingham, Director of Ailey Extension.
