Welcome Back Soar – Tropical Butterflies
Returning for the 6th year to South Coast Botanic Garden is Soar. This incredible exhibit features hundreds of tropical butterflies that you wouldnāt normally see in Southern California.Ā Explore the Host and Nectar Garden where you can discover the beautiful plant species that are part of a butterflyās habitat. Learn about how butterflies grow in the Emergence Chamber. Finally, visit the pavilion where you will have an up-close-and-personal experience with the hundreds of butterflies flying around you.Ā
While you’re visiting don’t miss Thomas Dandbo’s TROLLS: A Field Study, another beloved exhibit making its return for 2026.

New āLollipopā Butterfly Feeding Experience
For a truly one-of-a-kind experience, check out the Butterfly Feeding Experience. New for 2026, when you add on the Butterfly Feeding Experience for an additional $6, you will be given a ālollipopā to use while inside the pavilion to help entice butterflies to come close to you for the optimum and most immersive experience. There will be one lollipop per Butterfly Feeding Experience ticket holder, which is returned at the end of the experience.
Visiting South Coast Botanic Garden
Soar – Tropical Butterflies is open May 1 – September 30, 2026. Soar is a ticketed event that must be reserved in advance. Regular adult tickets are $27, kids ages 3-12 areĀ $17, students and seniors are $23, and ages 2 and under are free. Member admission is $7 per person ages 3 and up.
