Private Schools in Manhattan Beach

American Martyrs School –  Grades K-8
Private Catholic School
American Martyrs School is one of the jewels in the crown of American Martyrs Parish. It sparkles with the laughter of children, the joy of learning, and the light of loving parents and teachers. When our school began its first fall term on September 15,1947, eight teaching Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondolet were there to greet 235 new students. The little brick schoolhouse had been built on sandy “wilderness;” it accommodated just six grades. Over the last half century, American Martyrs School has mushroomed into an expansive academic complex-complete with a state-of-the-art science lab, library, extended care center, media lab, and dedicated rooms of instruction for music, art, and Spanish. Adjoining the elementary school campus are the parish Gymnasium and the AMS pre-school.

More than 700 children attend Pre-K through eighth grade at American Martyrs School today. A dedicated staff of 75 lay professionals works in partnership with parents to provide our school children with a faith-based education that focuses on academic excellence and the development of Catholic values. Though we are a parochial school, our young students have strong links to Manhattan Beach and the surrounding communities. Our children are actively engaged in public service from the time they enter kindergarten. They graduate as young Disciple of Christ — a shining reflection of His loving light.

Del Sol School – Grades Preschool – Grade 6
The del Sol Difference is based on the assumption that children are important people who have a right to be nurtured by teachers who honor them for who they are–unique, creative individuals, rich in being & potential, capable & powerful, loving & giving, possessing a natural sense of wonder, curiosity, desire, excitement, and joy in living & learning. We know, from our own experience and from child development theorists, that children are impelled to learn, most effectively by doing and reflecting upon it. Knowledge is not something that is given to children, but is actually constructed by the individual child through playful and purposeful interactions with materials, ideas, and others. Intentional teachers are the critical catalyst for the lighting and sustaining of the child’s passion for learning, living by our axiom, “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.”

Manhattan Academy – Infant – Grade 5

Private Schools in Gardena

Limai Academy
Individualized attention is crucial for our teachers to develop each of our students to define their educational plan for each child’s interests. In the future, this individualized attention will help your son or daughter determine their career goals and post-secondary planning.

This process starts in elementary school with an assessment of a student’s strengths and weaknesses, along with determining how to build a strong academic foundation for future success. This is followed in middle school with a more comprehensive plan, which develops and incorporates the long-term goals of each student.

Limai Academy provides our students with a solid beginning in kindergarten to build upon the core curriculum of our school and expand on each student’s strengths. This helps them achieve a higher level of academic achievement and assists them in discovering their path for the future.
