Middle School Superpowers with Phyllis Fagell, LCPC

Sharing is caring!

Middle school expert Phyllis Fagell shares her insights and tools for raising resilient tweens with our Manhattan Beach Community.

The Manhattan Beach Education Foundation recognizes how challenging the middle school age can be and believes that supporting parents and kids with adequate tools is essential to their success. This time of rapid physical, intellectual, moral, social, and emotional change is a unique opportunity to proactively build character and confidence. Learn how to teach kids the key skills they’ll need to thrive now and in the future, including making good friend choices, negotiating conflict, regulating their own emotions, acting as their own advocates, and more. Plus, Phyllis will engage a panel of high school students to share their perspective on what they have learned since this awkward stage.

Phyllis is a licensed mental health therapist and certified school counselor whose work with middle schoolers gives her a unique perspective on this age group. She is a frequent contributor to The Washington Post and other national publications, including CNN and U.S. News & World Report, and her ideas have been shared in outlets including The New York Times, The Atlantic, The New Yorker, The Chicago Tribune, and NPR.
