Minions: The Rise of Gru
Starting July 1
The Minions are back and invading theaters for the summer. There’s nothing like a family-friendly movie and AC to beat the heat.
Cardboard City
July 1 – Aug. 14
This free museum-scale exhibition features large-scale cardboard sculptures by reDiscover Center on display at Santa Monica Place. The exhibit is open daily 12 – 6 p.m. except Tuesdays and includes hands-on activities and classes for kids.
Alamitos Beach Water Playground
July 1 – end of summer season
The City of Long Beach is inviting visitors to get soaked at a unique water park in the ocean. The Wibit playground is an inflatable waterpark located on the water at Alamitos Beach. The water park, which features Ā a springboard, bouncer, monkey bars and several other elements is completely free to the public.

CCTP Children’s Theater in the Park

Pack a picnic and blanket and head to Carlson Park in Culver City for an afternoon of theater in the park just for kids. This year’s production is Cybernella & Rock Hopper, Penguin Detective.
LA Zoo Friday Nights 2022
July 8 – 29, Fridays
If your curios kids have ever wondered what the animals at the zoo get up to at night, now’s their chance to see for themselves at LA Zoo Friday Nights. On Friday nights throughout July get a special look at the LA Zoo animals in the evening. The event also includes music performances and interactive educational stations throughout the park.
Echo Park Lotus Festival
July 9 – 10
The 42nd annual Echo Park Lotus Festival honors the people and culture of India for 2022. The festival features live music, kids activities, a lantern launch, a dragon boat parade, and more all for free.
Shark Week at the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium
July 10 -16
If you’re kids are obsessed with Shark Week, then head to the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium where you can enjoy some exciting shark-related activities.
MLB All Star Week
July 15 – 19
Calling all baseball fans! This 5-day event has it all, including a fan experience at the L.A. Convention Center and a concert at Dodger Stadium headlined by Becky G. The grand finale is, of course, the MLB All-Star Game on July 19.
Orange County Fair
July 15 – Aug. 14
Did you miss the LA Fair? Don’t fret. The O.C. Fair is back this year as well and featuring the popular Toyota Concert Series, as well as the rides, attractions, animals and food you love.
Long Beach Dragon Boat Festival
July 30
Check out the traditional Chinese Dragon boats as they race through the water at Marine Stadium in Long Beach. In addition to the races, the festival features Chinese traditional art demonstrations, Chinese Acrobats, traditional dance, hip hop, music and martial arts performances, food, and more.
