Carved Returns With Pumpkin-Filled Family Fun to Descanso Gardens

Carved is a family-friendly event that has quickly become a Halloween season tradition for Los Angeles families. The annual event takes place in Descanso Gardens for the month of October. The gardens transform with a whole new look as thousands of carved pumpkins line the walkways after dark. In addition to creative jack o’ lanterns, the event features unique art installations, fall food offerings, and more.

Returning Favorites and New Thrills For Carved 2026

This year’s Carved—Descanso Gardens’ family-friendly Halloween experience features a trail filled with illuminated jack-o’-lanterns, massive hand-carved gourds, and vibrant light displays.

You’ll experience the Pumpkin Forest and enjoy and delicious fall-themed food and drinks Harvest Acres, both with new touches. The popular Descanso Railroad gets its seasonal lighting treatment once again. Chainsaw Jenna’s log sculptures, ghosts and witches carved from massive logs, are back once more, and Rhizome, a longtime favorite, relocates this year to the more dramatic backdrop of the Oak Grove.

New for 2026 is the addition of celebrated Helsinki-based artist Alexander Reichstein, whose intricately built wire sculptures will populate the Garden’s labyrinth. Reichstein, who is known world-wide for his immersive light art, has created a new collection of figures for Descanso’s labyrinth, hand-formed from wire into delicate, life-sized silhouettes. By day, the sculptures reveal the fine craftsmanship of their construction; by night, they glow softly against the Garden’s landscape, appearing almost to float in the darkness.

Ticket and Event Info

Carved offers anytime entrance and ticketed timed-entry event. Both options must be purchased in advance at descansogardens.org.

Anytime Tickets: $65 for members, $85 for non-members. This date-free option lets guests lock in a price now and pick their evening later.
Timed Tickets: $22–$45 for member adults, $12–$30 for member children; $29–$52 for non-member adults, $19–$37 for non-member children, depending on the date and time selected. Children 2 and under are free but still require a ticket.

Founded as a public garden in 1953, Descanso Gardens is located at 1418 Descanso Drive, La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91011. Descanso Gardens is open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekends during the summer. Admission is $15 for adults; $11 for seniors and students with a school I.D.; $5 for children 5 to 12, and free for children under 5.
